After years of lobbying, questioning, and campaigning, Jenny Johnson, along with the Conservative Councillors in Clatterbridge - Cllrs Mary Jordan, Cherry Povall and Helen Cameron are pleased to announce the allocation of a significant £750,000 investment aimed at enhancing road safety at Spital Crossroads. This milestone comes after extensive efforts dedicated to ensuring the safety of all road users at this critical junction.
Over recent years, the concerted efforts of local councillors have been focused on advocating for improved safety measures at Spital Crossroads. These efforts came to fruition in March 2023 when the Environment, Climate Change, and Transport Committee initially earmarked £550,000 for the project's completion. Recognising the importance and complexity of the project, consultants were commissioned to formulate detailed plans to address the safety concerns effectively.
By March 2024, it became evident that the actual costs required to implement the necessary safety enhancements would amount to £750,000. This increase reflects the thorough planning and the comprehensive measures needed to ensure the junction's safety standards are met.
We eagerly await further details on these plans, as we are confident that as local residents, we possess valuable insights into the most effective measures for enhancing safety at this junction. Our commitment remains steadfast in collaborating with the community and experts to ensure that the investment is utilised in the best possible way to safeguard all users of Spital Crossroads.
This is more evidence of hardworking Conservative councillors working for their communities and getting a better deal for Wirral West!
